How Primal connected a local school with a big business to improve children’s lives

The Melton Learning Hub is a charitable organisation committed to supporting young people throughout Leicestershire. Their mission is to improve learning opportunities for young individuals, offer support to families and children, and provide youth services. The Melton Learning Hub facility is dedicated to providing traditional and practical educational opportunities that improves young people’s self-esteem, self-confidence, and experience success.

The Melton Learning Hub has been visiting local gym Primal Fitness regularly over the last few years. The Hub’s deputy manager, Liam Weekes, brings Hub pupils down to burn off their energy and learn a new sport.

And now a chance meeting has showcased the Hub's work and shown how local gyms and businesses can collaborate.

Primal’s owner and personal trainer, Adam, was training his client Tim Collins, who is a trustee of the Barratt Homes' Charitable Foundation, and mentioned the great work done by Liam and the Hub and the relationship with Primal Fitness. As a result when Tim was looking for a local charity to support with the North Midlands Division of Barratt Homes the Hub was first in mind and Tim and the Managing Director of the Division, which is currently building at Kings Meadow on the outskirts of Melton, visitied the Hub for the first time last year.

Since then Barratt has donated £10,000 to the school, supplied the Hub with building materials for training and has offered to carry out much needed maintenance to their facility. They are also exploring ways that they may be able to offer a pathway to work experience and apprenticeships for the Hub's pupils.

We at Primal are proud of how we’ve helped, even in a small way, to bring Barratt Homes and the Hub together and improve the lives of the pupils.”
